Five Current Notable African Male Models

Before prolific actor Djimoun Hounsou became an actor he was a model. He is famous for his Calvin Klein ad, which was lauded for its strong essence of the diversity of beauty and the embrace of colour in the fashion industry.

We at His Closet believe that beauty comes in different shades and forms. We celebrate diversity. As an African brand we we do give a bit more attention to our very own stars in the continent.

His Closet is about getting people here in Mzansi talking about being aware of male fashion in general.

What better way to start this journey of knowing about male fashion in our country and the continent than to with the models...

These 5 guys are the most notable male models working today to have come from our beautiful continent of Africa.

In no particular order:
  • The Cabral Brothers: Fernando and Armando Cabral (Guinea Bissau)

These brothers are the hardest working male models from the continent at the moment. they have done numerous campaign in Europe and on the continent. Their success is only at its beginning stage but the future look very bright for them .

  • Salieu Jalloh (Sierra Leone)

Salieu is a young king in a modern landscape. The combination of his eyes, nose and mouth are pretty stunning and made him popular in the fashion world

  • Adonis Bosso (Ivory Coast)

Adonis has graced the runways at New York Fashion Week. His charisma and his impressive features make him the right face for many designers. He’s worked with H&M, Kenneth Cole, Richard Chai, Duckie Brown, Jeremy Scott, DKNY, Diesel, Custo Barcelona, and Vivienne Westwood, amongst others.

  • David Agbodji (Togo)

Ranked #15 in the Top 50 Male models, David needs no introduction. Here are a few names from the long list of brands he’s worked with: Dsquared, Kenneth Cole, Bottega Veneta, Banana Republic, Cole Haan, Tode Snyder, Vivienne Westwood, Salvatore Ferragamo, Hermès, Kenzo, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dolce Gabbana, Calvin Klein, Thierry Mugler, and Hugo Boss.

  • Sacha M’Baye (Senegal)

At just over 23 years, Sacha is one of our favorite models and has already modeled for Gap, American Eagle, Stone Island, GQ Style, and Burberry. He’s also a semi-pro soccer player.
